about

“With his phone-tapping days safely behind him, Robin Rimbaud keeps exploring implicitly intimate paths in abstract post-techno, as on this EP for this nascent Florida label. The title track's blend of whispery rhythms, percussive tones and ominous, buzzy effects bounces nicely against the sensual ambient tech of the flipside's "Bette" and the elastic, dubby meanderings of "Lambertia." Quality stuff.”
- XLR8R

“I’m probably one of the last people who should ever review a Scanner record. You see, I’ve got friends in England who regularly send Scanner death threats. I know people in Australia who organized a lynch mob last time he was in their town. This is the seedy underbelly of the electronic music scene: One false move and we’ll hunt you down. Sure, black metal guys burn down churches. And hip-hop guys do drive-bys. But us electronic guys go straight for the vigilante-style street justice: Broken bottles, baseball bats and rusty chains. Fortunately for Scanner, the second track, “Lambertia,” is actually kind of good. Crisp, little dark rhythm thing, I’ll put down the rope. For now.”
